Lagos Government opens a social register which is aimed at helping the poor and powerless people

The Lagos State Commissioner of Economic Planning and Budget (MEPB), Olusegun Banjo has introduced the State Operations Cooperating Unit (SOCU), as a feature of endeavors to make a Single Social Register that would prompt the contingent and genuine reserve exchange to poor people and powerless portion of the State.

Banjo clarified amid the introduction that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as of late endorsed the foundation of the SOCU while the approval of the constitution of the Unit was finished by the National Social Safety-Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO), Office of the Vice President, Abuja.

Noticing that the program would help the State to accomplish more in its steps to achieve poor people and powerless sections of her populace, the Commissioner underscored that the activity is dependable in light of the fact that it has the help of World Bank, UNICEF, andother Development Partners.

The National Coordinator, National Social Safety-Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO), Mr. Apera Iorwa in his discourse said that at the very least 665,655 poor and defenseless family units have been mapped in 26 States of the Nation, clarifying that the mapping of poor people and powerless is one of the five cardinal aspects of the Federal Government Social Investment Program which expects to haul the poor out of destitution.
